PNP absentee voting exceeds 12,000 in two days

Nearly 13,000 Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel have cast their ballots in the local absentee voting (LAV) after two days.

Of the 12,849 police officers who have voted, 11,891 are assigned to Regional Police Offices (PROs) and 958 are stationed at Camp Crame.

A total of 24,848 PNP personnel applied for LAV, but the Commission on Elections approved 21,223 for the April 28-30 period.

The PNP hopes the remaining 8,374 approved personnel will be able to cast their votes on the final day of LAV.

The three-day LAV period allows police, soldiers, media, and other essential frontline workers to vote in advance of election day duties.

PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil previously stated that 33,000 PNP personnel were expected to participate in LAV.

General Marbil had also affirmed the PNP's preparedness to secure the elections with deployed personnel, resources, and logistical support.
