PNP seeks more isolation facilities amid rise in COVID-19 cases

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is seeking additional isolation facilities for its personnel amidst a continuous rise in COVID-19 cases within the organization.

The PNP has converted its Taekwondo gym, former Dehta Restaurant, Provident offices, and Tennis Court into temporary isolation facilities with a combined capacity of over 197 beds.

The PNP Tennis Court facility, with a 100-bed capacity, is already operational, while other converted facilities are set to be available by April 1.

Active COVID-19 cases in the PNP reached 2,157 as of Sunday, with 1,255 personnel in PNP-owned isolation facilities and 840 in facilities managed by local government units.

The PNP recorded its highest daily tally of 316 cases on March 26.

Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar emphasized the need for preparedness to ensure the welfare of infected personnel who are front-liners in the fight against the virus.
