PNP expands quarantine facilities due to rise in COVID-19 cases

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has expanded its quarantine facilities at Camp Crame in Quezon City to accommodate more police officers infected with COVID-19.

The Kiangan Billeting and Transient Quarters, including its sports facilities, have been repurposed into a 55-bed quarantine facility.

PNP chief Gen. Debold Sinas refuted speculations that police personnel are not being adequately cared for, emphasizing that the Kiangan Emergency Treatment Facility is the main quarantine complex.

An additional 57 beds were provided at the Directorate for Logistics and 40 more beds at the Tae Kwon Do Gym for asymptomatic patients.

The PNP Health Service noted an unexpected increase in COVID-19 cases among police personnel and their family members, prompting the expansion.

Sinas also mentioned that members of local government units utilized the facility for assessment.

Both symptomatic and asymptomatic cases are individually transported by PNP ambulance to designated facilities in Metro Manila and Clark, Pampanga.
