As of Friday, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has logged 15,657 COVID-19 cases among its personnel.

The death toll among PNP personnel due to COVID-19 has reached 40 with a new fatality reported on Saturday, a female police sergeant assigned to the Manila Police District.

There are currently 2,603 active COVID-19 cases within the police organization, with 67 of them confined in hospitals.

The PNP reported 328 new cases on Friday, which is equivalent to three companies of policemen.

Of the new cases, 199 were reported in Metro Manila, while 129 were from various regions, with Ilocos Region having the highest at 34.

The PNP has expanded its isolation facilities in Camp Crame, including the Kiangan Billeting and Transient Quarters with a 55-bed capacity, to manage rising cases.

Lt. Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar stated that they expect infections to increase due to the active involvement of policemen in implementing quarantine rules.
