6 dead, 32 injured on election day- PNP
Six individuals were killed and 32 others were wounded in election-related violent incidents during Eleksyon 2022, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).
The PNP reported 52 election-related incidents, of which 21 were considered significant and occurred in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (BAR), including shootings, explosions, and ballot snatching.
Three deaths were reported in Buluan, Maguindanao, two in Binidayan, Lanao del Sur, and one in Malabang, Lanao del Sur.
Additionally, 21 incidents are still under validation to confirm if they are election-related.
Despite the incidents, PNP officer-in-charge Lt. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr. stated that the elections were relatively peaceful nationwide.
The PNP also reported 3,191 arrests and the confiscation of 2,271 firearms in relation to the gun ban.
