AFP records 15 election violence incidents with 4 dead

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) monitored at least 15 election-related violent incidents nationwide, resulting in four deaths and 11 injuries as of Monday afternoon, May 9, 2022.

These incidents, which included shootings and explosions, occurred between 10 p.m. Sunday and 2 p.m. Monday.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) had previously validated 16 election-related violent incidents nationwide as of Monday morning, May 9, 2022.

Of the 71 total incidents recorded since January 9, 2022, the PNP deemed 41 non-election related, with 14 still under investigation.

The deadliest attack occurred in Buluan, Maguindanao, where three members of a Barangay Peace Action Team (BPAT) were killed and another was injured in a shooting incident.

The PNP confirmed that the overall situation across the country remained peaceful, with focus on areas declared under the Commission on Elections' control.
