PNP records 10 validated election-related incidents

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has recorded 53 election-related incidents nationwide since the election period began on January 9.

Of these, 10 have been validated as election-related, resulting in 84 victims including candidates and government officials.

A total of 145 suspects, including threat groups and incumbent candidates, have been identified.

Twenty-nine incidents were confirmed as non-election-related, while 14 are still under validation.

Confirmed election-related incidents occurred in the Ilocos Region (four), Zamboanga (three), and one each in Central Luzon, Northern Mindanao, and Cordillera.

PNP Directorate for Operations director, Maj. Gen. Valeriano de Leon, stated that the PNP's function is to resolve these incidents and prevent potential retaliation.
