PNP places all units under highest security alert status for May 9 polls
The Philippine National Police (PNP) has placed all its units nationwide on the highest security alert status in preparation for the May 9 national and local elections.

Over 50,000 police personnel, including nearly 1,000 who completed a refresher course to serve as backup Board of Election Inspectors (BEI), have been assigned to secure the elections.
Members of the PNP's elite forces are also on standby as backup in areas classified as election hot spots, with 114 cities and municipalities identified as such.
The 225,000-strong PNP will work with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to ensure the security of votes and conduct professional, peaceful elections.
