PNP develops COVID-19 decontamination protocol for frontliners

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is developing a decontamination protocol for all personnel working on the frontlines against COVID-19.

This includes a walk-through decontamination station in Camp Crame to disinfect all persons entering its headquarters.

This measure is part of stringent actions to ensure the safety of uniformed police officers, especially after a rookie cop tested positive for the virus.

A PNP-wide Biosafety Plan is already in effect, including disinfection of vehicles entering Camp Crame and proper disposal of biohazardous waste.

Currently, 905 PNP personnel are classified as Persons Under Monitoring (PUM) and 76 as Persons Under Investigation (PUI).

PNP chief Gen. Archie Gamboa assured personnel that the National Headquarters will provide necessary support, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), contact tracing, and social distancing measures.
