Philippines logs 16,361 new COVID-19 cases

The Philippines recorded 16,361 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of active cases to 171,142.

Of the active cases, 92.4 percent are mild, 2.8 percent are asymptomatic, 1.4 percent are severe, 2.69 percent are moderate, and 0.6 percent are in critical condition.

With 21,974 new recovered cases, the overall tally of coronavirus disease 2019 recoveries nationwide rose to 2,193,700, which is equivalent to a 91.3 percent recovery rate.

The DOH also logged 140 new fatalities, raising the death toll to 37,074.

Sixty-one duplicates were removed from the total case count, and 46 of those were recoveries.

Sixty cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

On September 19, 2021, about 27 percent of 48,262 tested turned out positive for COVID-19.

All laboratories were operational on September 19, but four were unable to submit their data.
