PH receives 2.5 million Sinovac doses, vaccine arrivals top 30 million

The Philippines received 1.5 million doses of Sinovac vaccines on Thursday, July 22, 2021, and an additional one million doses on Friday, July 23, 2021, bringing the total vaccine arrivals to over 30 million.

These procured vaccines are part of the government's strategy to achieve herd immunity by vaccinating a significant portion of the population.

The National Task Force on COVID-19 is currently prioritizing essential workers (A4 category) for vaccination.

The government aims to vaccinate 70% of the Philippine population, with a focus on Metro Manila and other high-incidence areas.

An estimated 7 million more doses of COVID-19 vaccine are expected to be delivered within the remainder of July and in August.

A total of 164 million vaccine doses from different vaccine manufacturers have been secured for this year through purchase as well as donations.

As of July 23, 2021, over 16 million individuals have been vaccinated.
