PH expects 171 million vaccine doses this year

The Philippines is expecting to receive a total of 171 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines in 2021, which is more than enough to vaccinate the entire adult population.

As of July 18, the Philippines had administered 15 million doses, with 10,388,188 individuals having received at least one dose and 4,708,073 fully vaccinated.

The country aims to vaccinate 70 million Filipinos against COVID-19.

Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III reported that 65 million doses were expected from July 1 to September 30, with an additional 55 million doses by the end of the third quarter.

The Philippines achieved a record high of 472,356 COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in a single day on July 22, a milestone that contributed to the vaccination progress.

The National Task Force (NTF) against COVID-19 chief implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. had previously expressed optimism about inoculating half a million Filipinos per day this quarter and acknowledged the efforts of vaccination teams and front-liners.
