The Philippines is open to receiving Chinese-made vaccines, Sinovac or Sinopharm, from the COVAX facility, according to vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr.
These Chinese vaccines are expected to be available for distribution to beneficiary countries, including the Philippines, by next month.
The COVAX scheme, managed by vaccine alliance GAVI and the World Health Organization, has secured advance purchase agreements with Chinese manufacturers for up to 550 million doses.
These agreements include up to 170 million doses of Sinopharm and up to 380 million doses of Sinovac, to be supplied until mid-2022.
Secretary Galvez also reported that the Philippines currently has a stockpile of over 12.8 million vaccine doses, sufficient for 32 days at an average of 400,000 vaccinations per day.
