PH logs 1,357 new COVID-19 cases; Sinovac gets nod for clinical trials

Davao City again registered the highest daily increase, followed by Rizal, Quezon City, Pampanga, and Benguet.

Total recoveries reached 466,249 after 324 more patients recovered, while the death toll climbed to 9,978 with 69 new fatalities.

Fifty-six cases previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

Meanwhile, the Food and Drug Administration has given China's Sinovac the green light to conduct clinical trials in the Philippines for its COVID-19 vaccine.

The Philippines has secured 30 million doses from India's Serum Institute, 25 million from China's Sinovac, and nearly 20 million from AstraZeneca.
