PH COVID-19 cases lowest since July

The Philippines recorded 3,694 new COVID-19 cases on October 28, 2021, bringing the total number of infections to 2,772,491.

This is the lowest active case count since July, with the tally dropping to 49,835.

Of the active cases, 73.4% are mild, 6.8% are asymptomatic, 6.2% are severe, and 2.6% are in critical condition.

The country also registered 3,924 recoveries, increasing the total number of recovered patients to 2,680,081.

A total of 227 new deaths were reported, pushing the country's COVID-19 death toll to 42,575.

The DOH noted that 52 duplicates were removed from the total case count, and 158 cases previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

Additionally, 50% of the country's intensive care unit beds are utilized, while 34% of mechanical ventilators are in use.
