DOH logs 5,807 new COVID-19 cases

The Department of Health (DOH) reported 5,807 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, October 23, bringing the total number of infections to 2,751,667.

Active cases in the country have decreased to 63,051.

Of the active cases, 77.7% are mild, 6.5% are asymptomatic, 8.89% are moderate, 4.9% are severe, and 2.1% are in critical condition.

Total recoveries increased by 9,578 to 2,647,031, while 65 new fatalities brought the death toll to 41,585.

Nationwide, 55% of the 4,300 intensive care unit (ICU) beds for COVID-19 patients are in use, and 40% of the 14,500 ward beds are utilized.

The DOH confirmed that all laboratories were operational since October 21, though two failed to submit data, and 29 duplicates were removed from the case count.

Fifty-one cases previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
