PH COVID-19 cases drop, active cases lowest since Aug 23

The Philippines logged 15,566 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, October 1, 2021, bringing the nationwide tally to 2,565,487.

The Department of Health (DOH) reported that active cases decreased to 130,268, the lowest since August 23.

Of the active cases, 77.9% are mild, 15% are asymptomatic, 2.1% are severe, and 0.9% are in critical condition.

Total recoveries increased to 2,396,726 with 23,483 new ones, while 199 more fatalities brought the death toll to 38,493.

Forty-five duplicate cases were removed from the total count, and 102 cases previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as fatalities.

ICU beds for COVID-19 patients nationwide are at high risk with 73% occupancy, while NCR ICU beds are at 75% occupancy.

COVID-19 ward beds in the Philippines have a 64% utilization rate, with NCR ward beds at 57% occupancy.
