Philippines posts 18,449 new COVID-19 infections; active cases at 158K
The Philippine National Police (PNP) has recorded a total of 39,115 COVID-19 cases among its personnel.
The Department of Health (DOH) reported 18,449 new COVID-19 infections on Monday, September 27, 2021, bringing the country's total caseload to 2,509,177.
Active cases in the country are now at 158,169, with 78.7% mild, 15.3% asymptomatic, 1.7% severe, and 0.8% critical.
Total recoveries increased to 2,313,412 after 21,811 more patients defeated the viral disease.
The death toll rose to 37,494 with 93 new fatalities.
The DOH noted it will report backlog deaths in separate advisories.
130 duplicate cases were removed from the total case count, while 227 cases previously tagged as recoveries have been validated to be active cases.
