Pampanga hospital to be COVID-19 testing hub

The Jose B. Lingad Regional Memorial Hospital (JBLRMH) in Pampanga is set to become a COVID-19 testing hub for Central Luzon.

A polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing machine was recently donated by businessman Wilfredo Keng to the provincial government.

The machine will be indefinitely lent to JBLRMH to initiate mass testing across Pampanga and other provinces in the region.

Alongside the testing machine, Keng also provided a significant donation of personal protective equipment (PPE) and thermal scanners.

The provincial government, through Provincial Board Member Ferdinand Labung, also facilitated the construction of the laboratory infrastructure.

A memorandum of agreement will be signed between JBLRMH, the Department of Health (DOH), and Governor Dennis Pineda for staff training by the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM).

The establishment of the JBLRMH diagnostic molecular pathology laboratory was made possible by a grant from the Asian Development Bank.
