NMMC opens Covid-19 lab; 4 persons test negative
The Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) laboratory in Cagayan de Oro City has opened and successfully conducted its first proficiency test, yielding negative results for four admitted patients.
The NMMC laboratory can process tests within an hour using its GeneXpert Xpress machine and has 1,740 cartridges available.
None of the four initially tested patients were from Cagayan de Oro.
Dr. Bernard Julius Rocha stated the laboratory's establishment was a joint effort between DOH 10 Director Adriano Suba-an and NMMC hospital chief Dr. Jose Chan.
A World Health Organization team is expected to arrive to train 24 medical technologists for the laboratory work.
The DOH-10 laboratory has acquired two PCR machines, with the city government acquiring a third.
