Manila to open COVID-19 testing lab at Sta Ana Hospital

The Manila city government is constructing its own COVID-19 testing laboratory at the Santa Ana Hospital to enhance its capacity for confirming cases through PCR machines.

Mayor Isko Moreno stated that this initiative is part of the city's long-term strategy to combat the virus and empower local health institutions.

The city government also plans to acquire eight mobile digital X-ray machines to supplement its existing equipment and streamline patient care.

These portable X-ray machines will allow for on-site examinations, preventing COVID-19 patients from moving around hospitals.

Manila has also adopted the StaySafe.ph mobile application to improve contact tracing, health condition reporting, and social distancing measures among residents.

Residents can use the app to report their health status and receive updates on the COVID-19 situation in the city.

Additionally, the Manila government will distribute a second tranche of P1,000 cash aid to 607,586 families affected by the pandemic.
