9 Filipino sailors from M/V Eternity C arrive safely in Manila

Nine Filipino sailors, the remaining crew of the M/V Eternity C held hostage by Houthi rebels, have arrived safely in Manila.

They were part of the 21 Filipino crew aboard the Liberian-flagged vessel attacked in the Red Sea last July 7.

This marks the second and final batch of repatriated seafarers, with the first batch of eight returning in July.

The sailors reported they were treated properly by the rebels during their captivity.

Officials from the Department of Migrant Workers, Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Health, and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration welcomed them at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1.

Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac confirmed that three Filipino sailors perished, and a fourth is missing after reportedly jumping from the ship.
