NCR granular lockdowns rise to 105

The number of areas in the National Capital Region (NCR) under granular lockdown has increased to 105 as of Wednesday, an increase from the previous 98.

These lockdown areas are spread across 58 barangays and include 57 houses, 28 residential buildings, 12 subdivisions or villages, and six residential building floors.

Local government units (LGUs) are responsible for the imposition and lifting of these granular lockdowns.

The PNP has deployed 322 personnel and 251 force multipliers to ensure security and adherence to health standards in these areas.

Metro Manila Council (MMC) head and Parañaque Mayor Edwin Olivarez stated that a single COVID-19 case can warrant a lockdown of a house or condominium floor, while two cases necessitate a street-level lockdown.

Granular lockdowns are micro-level quarantines imposed on critical zones identified by LGUs, which can range from a single house to an entire building with a high number of infections.
