NCR granular lockdowns drop to 73 areas

The number of areas under granular lockdown in the National Capital Region has decreased to 73 from 76 as of Sunday, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).

These lockdown areas are located in 49 barangays and include 48 houses, 16 residential buildings, and five subdivisions.

Local government units (LGUs) have the authority to implement or lift these lockdowns.

The PNP has deployed 281 personnel and 179 force multipliers to enforce security and health protocols in the affected areas.

Parañaque Mayor Edwin Olivarez stated that a single COVID-19 case can warrant a lockdown for a house or a condominium floor, while two cases can lead to a street lockdown.

Granular lockdowns are micro-level quarantines for critical zones identified by LGUs, targeting areas with a high number of COVID-19 infections.
