NCR granular lockdowns down to 117 areas

The number of areas under granular lockdown in the National Capital Region has decreased to 117 as of Wednesday, down from 121.

These lockdowns are currently implemented in 78 barangays across Metro Manila, affecting specific houses, residential buildings, subdivisions, streets, and building floors.

The PNP reported that 363 police personnel and 410 force multipliers are deployed to ensure security and adherence to health standards in these areas.

Local government units are responsible for deciding on the imposition and lifting of granular lockdowns.

According to Metro Manila Council head and Parañaque Mayor Edwin Olivarez, a single COVID-19 case can lead to a lockdown on a house or condominium floor, while two cases may result in the lockdown of an entire street.

Granular lockdowns are a micro-level quarantine strategy for areas identified as 'critical zones' with a high concentration of COVID-19 infections.
