Moderna vaccines to arrive in May, private sector also to procure

Approximately 194,000 doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, the first batch of the government's 13 million doses, are anticipated to be delivered to the Philippines in May.

The private sector has separately purchased an additional 7 million doses of the Moderna vaccine.

The government has an agreement with the World Bank to assist with payment for its vaccine order.

The private sector has committed to adhering to the prioritization guidelines for the rollout of Moderna vaccines.

Moderna is expected to apply for an emergency use authorization from the Food and Drug Administration this week.

Additionally, the Philippines has a sealed supply agreement for 13 million doses of Novavax vaccines, with deliveries expected in the third and fourth quarters of the year, pending financing finalization.
