PBBM orders free public transport due to heavy rains

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered the Department of Transportation and other agencies to offer free public transportation starting at 12 noon on Monday, July 21, due to heavy rains and flooding.

Commuters can avail of free rides on the MRT-3, LRT-1, and LRT-2 by not buying tickets or loading their Beep cards.

The Philippine Coast Guard and Philippine Ports Authority were also directed to deploy free bus and truck rides on specific routes, including Quiapo to Angono, Rizal, and Quiapo to Fairview, Quezon City.

The Office of the Vice President will extend its free bus ride operations until midnight on routes such as EDSA Carousel Monumento to PITX.

The Philippine National Railways (PNR) is also offering free rides on its operational lines.

In response to the weather conditions, the PITX announced a waiver of overnight parking fees.

Malacañang suspended classes and government work in Metro Manila and several other provinces starting at 1 p.m.
