SW monsoon causes flooding, traffic in Metro Manila; number coding suspended

Southwest monsoon rains caused flooding and traffic in Metro Manila on Wednesday, July 23, 2025.

The MMDA suspended the number coding scheme due to the inclement weather.

In Manila, Taft Avenue at UN Avenue and near Pedro Gil intersections were reported as half to above gutter-deep but passable to all vehicles as of 9:30 a.m.

Other areas in Manila including Roxas Boulevard and Kalaw Avenue were also reported as gutter-deep and passable.

Malabon City reported Rizal Avenue Extension near city hall as above knee-deep and not passable to all vehicles, while M.H. Del Pilar Maysilo was half knee-deep and passable.

In Valenzuela City, houses near the Tullahan River were inundated up to their second floors, prompting approximately 800 people and their pets to evacuate.

Parañaque City reported sections of Dr. A. Santos Avenue as waist-deep and not passable to any vehicle.

Diokno Boulevard near the Senate had knee-deep flooding and was not passable to light vehicles.
