TD Querubin weakens into LPA, still triggers heavy rains in VisMin

Tropical Depression Querubin has weakened into a low pressure area (LPA) over the waters east of Mindanao.

As of 4 p.m. Wednesday, the LPA was located 275 kilometers east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte.

Despite its downgrade, the LPA and the shear line are expected to continue triggering heavy to intense rainfall in parts of Visayas and Mindanao, particularly in eastern portions.

The trough of the LPA will also cause scattered rains across the rest of the islands.

Scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the shearline are forecast in Bicol Region, Quezon, Marinduque, Romblon, and Oriental Mindoro.

The northeast monsoon will bring light rains over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Aurora, and isolated light rains over the rest of Luzon.

Strong to gale winds and rough to very rough seas will prevail across extreme Northern Luzon.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters will continue to prevail in the eastern section of the country and the western section of Northern Luzon.
