LPA east of Mindanao may become tropical depression Butchoy

A Low Pressure Area (LPA) east of Mindanao, located 440 km East of Davao City as of 3:00 PM on July 15, 2024, may develop into a tropical depression.

This LPA is the second storm to potentially enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this year and will be named Butchoy if it intensifies.

The trough of the LPA is bringing scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and the Davao Region.

The Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), enhanced by a tropical depression outside the PAR, is also causing rain showers in Palawan and Occidental Mindoro.

PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides in Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Davao Region, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan due to moderate to heavy rains.

Metro Manila, Western Visayas, Bataan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon may experience partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon.
