LPA, habagat bring rains to PHLuzon, Visayas, Mindanao

A Low Pressure Area (LPA) and the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) are bringing cloudy skies and scattered rain showers to various parts of the Philippines.

The LPA, located 200 kilometers east-northeast of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte, is causing scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, Davao Region, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, Marinduque, and Romblon.

Moderate to heavy rains may lead to flash floods or landslides in these areas.

PAGASA Weather Specialist Obet Badrina stated that the bureau is not ruling out the possibility of the LPA developing into a tropical cyclone, which would be the country's second for 2024 and named Butchoy.

The southwest monsoon is affecting the western parts of Southern Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao.

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected in the rest of Mimaropa, the Visayas, and Mindanao.

Isolated rain showers and thunderstorms are likely in Metro Manila and the rest of Calabarzon.

The rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy weather with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
