House committees to probe flood control projects amid corruption allegations

The House of Representatives authorized three committees to jointly investigate the implementation of flood control projects by the DPWH and other related agencies.

This inquiry, conducted in aid of legislation, was prompted by the President's order to probe possible corruption in these projects.

ML Partylist Rep. Leila de Lima objected to House Resolution No. 145, citing concerns about a potential conflict of interest as the House would be investigating itself.

She argued that widespread speculation about the involvement of some House members could harm the institution's integrity.

House Committee on Public Accounts chairperson Terry Ridon asserted that the House has the power to investigate these projects.

Legislators and contractors tagged in alleged anomalous flood control deals are expected to be invited to the probe.
