Senate probes P100B flood control projects for anomalies

Senator Rodante Marcoleta, as the new chairperson of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, has initiated an investigation into alleged anomalies and substandard work in flood control projects nationwide.

The probe was ordered by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. following his observation that 15 construction companies secured a significant portion of flood control projects amounting to approximately P100 billion.

Several of these top contractors, including EGB Construction Corporation, Centerways Construction and Development Inc., and Sunwest, Inc., were represented at the panel's hearing.

Senator Marcoleta stated that it is time to uncover the truth behind these mysterious government contracts and address the rampant corruption within the system.

This inquiry also follows widespread flooding and preliminary audits ordered by the Commission on Audit (COA) on certain projects.
