P10.2M worth of marijuana plants destroyed in Sulu

Government anti-narcotics agents destroyed over P10.2 million worth of fully-grown marijuana plants in Kalilangan Caluang town in Sulu.

The operation on Feb. 21 resulted in the destruction of approximately 11,950 marijuana plants spread across an estimated 1,950 square meters in Barangay Pitogo.

PDEA Director Gil Cesario P. Castro confirmed that the plantation was allegedly cultivated by a suspect identified as alias Mahdi, who was not present during the operation.

Castro assured the public that the uprooted marijuana plants were promptly destroyed and burned on-site.

Alias Mahdi faces charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165, or "The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002."
