Govt arranges chartered flights for OFWs from Middle East

The Philippine government is arranging chartered flights to repatriate Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) stranded in the Middle East.

An initial three chartered flights are scheduled to bring home OFWs from Oman and the UAE starting July 26, with further flights on August 5 and August 10.

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III stated that the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is coordinating with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) for these repatriation efforts.

The government assures that minimum health protocols are strictly implemented, including ensuring OFWs are vaccinated and have negative PCR test results before boarding the flights.

Upon arrival in the Philippines, repatriated OFWs will undergo strict health protocols, including a reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test after a five-day quarantine if they are fully vaccinated.
