Sen Gatchalian wants charges vs suspended Mayor Guo for Senate no-show

Senator Sherwin Gatchalian proposed filing disobedience to summons charges against suspended Mayor Alice Guo and several others for failing to appear in Senate investigations.

The suggestion was made as Mayor Guo continues to evade an arrest order issued by the Senate committee on women, children, family relations and gender equality.

Gatchalian cited Article 150 of the Revised Penal Code, which covers disobedience to summons issued by Congress, its committees, or subcommittees.

He also recommended filing similar cases against Guo's relatives, Sheila Leal Guo, Wesley Leal Guo, Jian Zhong Guo, Seimen L. Guo, and Wenyi Lin, who also failed to appear.

Senator Risa Hontiveros, the committee chairperson, expressed support for Gatchalian's suggestion and vowed to rally colleagues behind the proposal.

The Senate committee is investigating Mayor Guo's alleged involvement in an illegal POGO hub raided in her town, as well as questions surrounding her citizenship.

Guo's inconsistent testimonies about her background and dubious documents regarding her Filipino citizenship have fueled these concerns.
