DSWD-7 readies relief supplies for Mt. Kanlaon evacuees

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Central Visayas is preparing relief supplies and evacuation centers for residents near Mt. Kanlaon as part of "Oplan Exodus."

DSWD-7 director Shalaine Marie Lucero stated that response operations have been intensified to prepare for potential uncertainties affecting residents near the volcano.

As of Monday, the DSWD-7 has prepositioned 40,122 family food packs valued at PHP25.9 million and 8,948 non-food items worth PHP14 million in Negros Island.

These prepositioned goods include family kits, hygiene kits, sleeping kits, kitchen kits, modular tents, and laminated sacks, with additional supplies like camp management kits, women-friendly space kits, and child-friendly space kits ready for evacuation centers.

A portion of the supplies, specifically 900 family food packs, has already been distributed to families affected by Mt. Kanlaon's activity but are not currently in evacuation centers.

A team from Canlaon City LGU will assess evacuation centers in host LGUs to ensure they meet minimum standards for evacuees.
