More volunteers needed for FFP preps amid Kanlaon unrest
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is seeking more volunteers to pack family food packs (FFPs) for families affected by the Mt. Kanlaon unrest.
The Visayas Disaster Resource Center (VDRC) in Mandaue City has delivered 4,200 FFPs to affected areas in Region 6 (Western Visayas) and 11,800 to Region 7 (Central Visayas) between December 9 and January 2.
DSWD Assistant Regional Director Tonyson Luther Lee stated that the VDRC continuously supports affected families and is ramping up its inventory.
Jun Eso, who is in charge of VDRC, emphasized the need for more volunteers from government and private sectors to fast-track FFP production and increase stockpile in case the situation worsens.
The VDRC aims to maintain a stock of at least 100,000 family food packs daily.
