OCD readies 'Plan Exodus' amid Kanlaon Volcano's Alert Level 3

The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) is preparing "Plan Exodus" for the potential evacuation of residents near Mt. Kanlaon.

OCD-Western Visayas Regional Director Raul Fernandez vowed to strictly uphold the six-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) around the volcano.

Discussions for relocation sites have been ongoing since September last year.

The OCD is also strategizing for the systematic transportation of residents should Alert Level 4 be raised.

Approximately 4,000 evacuees living outside the PDZ in Bago City and La Castellana are expected to return home, with their movement being carefully monitored.

The return of evacuees outside the PDZ has already started in Barangay Ilijan, Bago City, and Barangay Sag-ang, La Castellana.

Alert Level 3 remains in effect over Kanlaon Volcano.
