P8.7-B EDSA rehab to start June 13, end by 2027

Preparatory works for the comprehensive P8.7-billion rehabilitation of EDSA will commence on June 13, 2025, with full construction beginning a week later.

The entire project, involving the full reconstruction of both northbound and southbound lanes of the 24-kilometer stretch of EDSA, is expected to conclude by 2027.

This marks the highway's first major rehabilitation since 1980, with an estimated 437,000 vehicles using EDSA daily.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has released a list of alternate routes and urged motorists to utilize Mabuhay Lanes.

An odd-even coding scheme will be implemented on EDSA starting June 16 for a month, with a possible extension, to mitigate traffic.

The EDSA rehabilitation project is being conducted by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in preparation for the 2026 ASEAN Summit.

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon clarified that the EDSA Busway will continue operations during the rehabilitation project, with temporary lane shifts and access to stops.
