DOTr, MMDA impose EDSA odd-even scheme for rehab

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) are implementing traffic management measures for the upcoming rehabilitation of EDSA.

Starting June 16, the MMDA will enforce a 24-hour odd-even scheme exclusively on EDSA, restricting vehicles based on the last digit of their license plates on certain weekdays.

Vehicles with plate numbers ending in 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 will be restricted on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, while those ending in 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 will be restricted on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

All vehicles will be allowed to use EDSA on Sundays.

A portion of the Skyway Stage 3 that runs along EDSA will be toll-free during the EDSA rebuild to ease congestion.

The DOTr will also deploy 100 bus units along the EDSA busway and add additional 4-car train sets to MRT 3 to encourage public commuting, while X-ray scanners will be removed from all MRT 3 stations to decongest queues.
