336,809 OFWS applied for DOLE aid but only 85,849 qualified
As of May 1, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has approved 85,849 applications for its Abot Kamay ang Pagtulong (AKAP) program, providing financial aid to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The DOLE has disbursed P482.9 million to 47,239 qualified OFWs, with P275.6 million of this amount disbursed by Philippine Overseas Labor Offices (POLOs) to 26,500 OFWs.
The AKAP program provides a one-time cash assistance of P10,000 or USD200 to displaced OFWs.
The total number of requests received by POLOs and OWWA as of May 1 was 336,809.
