DOLE: Over 500k workers get P5,000 cash aid
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has realigned P1.5 billion of its 2020 budget to aid formal sector workers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
As of April 30, DOLE has distributed over P2.6 billion to 522,855 beneficiaries under the COVID-19 Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP).
CAMP now aims to assist nearly 650,000 workers with a total budget of P3.2 billion.
Additionally, 313,700 informal sector workers have received over P993 million under the Tulong Pangkabuhayan sa Displaced/Underprivileged Workers (TUPAD) disinfection and sanitation project, with an allocated fund of P1.1 billion.
DOLE has distributed P183.04 million to 17,600 on-site OFWs and P99.18 million to 9,918 repatriated OFWs under its assistance program for overseas Filipino workers.
The department indicated that there are limited TUPAD and OFW assistance funds to cover all affected workers.
