2 NBP officials relieved due to Jan. 17 escape of 4 PDLs from maximum-security compound
The Department of Justice (DOJ) ordered the relief of the acting superintendent of the New Bilibid Prison (NBP)'s Maximum Security Compound (MSC), Arnold Guzman, and the Commander of the Guards, Israel Basi, following the escape of four persons deprived of liberty (PDLs).
CT Supt. Roy Villasis has been appointed as the new acting superintendent of the MSC, and Reynaldo Tuguinay as the new guard commander.
Two of the four PDL escapees were killed in firefights with police and BuCor officers.
Michael Dullavin, an inmate wounded by the escaping convicts, died from his injuries.
Justice Secretary Menardo I. Guevarra stated that a full report on the incident has yet to be released.
