DOH, Rep. Tiangco warn vs firecracker dangers

The Department of Health (DOH) and Navotas 1st district Rep. Toby Tiangco are warning the public about firecracker dangers ahead of the New Year.

As of December 27, the DOH reported 101 firecracker-related injuries nationwide, with nearly 80% caused by illegal firecrackers.

From December 22 to 25, 43 individuals nationwide sustained firecracker-related injuries, with 20 being youths aged 19 and below.

Rep. Tiangco expressed sadness that most firecracker accident victims are children and urged the public to follow local government unit (LGU) regulations.

He also called on the Philippine National Police (PNP) to intensify efforts against the sale of illegal firecrackers, especially those sold online.
