DILG: NCR unlikely to be placed under MECQ

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary Epimaco Densing III stated that it is unlikely for the National Capital Region (NCR) to revert to Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ).

He mentioned that the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) did not discuss placing the NCR under MECQ.

The government aims to balance economic restrictions with the need to keep the economy going.

This comes after the OCTA Research group recommended either a hard General Community Quarantine (GCQ) or a soft MECQ for the NCR to reduce COVID-19 cases.

The reproduction number in Metro Manila has decreased to 1.91 from 1.99.
