Creamline completes reverse sweep vs Cignal, enters PVL Finals

Creamline secured a spot in the 2024 Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference Finals after completing a thrilling reverse sweep against Cignal with a final score of 20-25, 26-28, 25-18, 27-25, and 15-13.

The Cool Smashers, playing in front of an 11,438-strong crowd at the Mall of Asia Arena, came back from a sluggish start and overcame a fourth-set deficit to prevent Cignal from closing out the series.

American import Erica Staunton had a career-game, scoring 38 points, including five in the fifth set, to lead Creamline's comeback.

Bernadeth Pons contributed significantly with 28 attack points, 17 excellent digs, and 24 excellent receptions, highlighting the team's strong floor defense.

Kyle Negrito dished out 25 excellent sets, supporting teammates like Michele Gumabao who scored 10 points and Pangs Panaga with eight.

Creamline will now face unbeaten Akari in the Finals, aiming to end a six-year drought in the import-laced tournament.

This marks Creamline's first Reinforced Finals appearance since 2019, where they finished as runners-up.
