The Commission on Elections (Comelec) En Banc has affirmed Bienvenido "Benny" Abante as the duly elected representative for Manila's 6th District.

The Comelec En Banc denied the motion for reconsideration filed by Luis "Joey" Chua Uy, upholding the decision that disqualifies him from holding office.

The Comelec Second Division previously ruled that Uy is not a natural-born Filipino citizen, making him ineligible to be a Member of the House of Representatives.

Uy's proclamation as the winning candidate for the said district has been annulled.

Abante, who lost his reelection bid to Uy, received 63,358 votes compared to Uy's 64,746.

The Comelec En Banc also ordered the Manila City Board of Canvassers to formally proclaim Abante.
