Classes suspended in parts of Luzon, Visayas due to Severe Tropical Storm Opong

Classes at all levels are suspended in parts of Luzon and the Visayas on Thursday, September 25, 2025, due to Severe Tropical Storm Opong and the southwest monsoon.

Malacañang has suspended work in government offices and classes at all levels in Sorsogon, Masbate, Northern Samar, and Eastern Samar on Thursday, September 25.

Classes at all levels in Quezon, Marinduque, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Samar, and Biliran are also suspended.

PAGASA has raised Wind Signal No. 2 over provinces in the Visayas and Wind Signal No. 1 over some provinces in Luzon.

Opong is forecast to intensify into a typhoon while nearing Philippine land and drawing strength from favorable ocean conditions.

Agencies responsible for basic, vital and health services must remain operational, with non-vital employees potentially under alternative work arrangements.

Local government units retain the authority to declare further class or work suspensions.
