Classes, gov't work suspended nationwide due to Severe Tropical Storm Opong

Classes and government work nationwide were suspended on Friday, September 26, due to Severe Tropical Storm Opong.

Malacañang ordered the suspension of classes at all levels and government work in Metro Manila, Biliran, Eastern Samar, Northern Samar, Samar, Masbate, Romblon, and Sorsogon.

Classes at all levels in Aklan, Albay, Antique, Batangas, Bataan, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Capiz, Cavite, Catanduanes, Guimaras, Iloilo, Laguna, Leyte, Marinduque, Negros Occidental, Oriental Mindoro, Rizal, and Quezon are also suspended.

However, agencies responsible for basic, vital, and health services, preparedness, and response duties must remain operational.

Localized cancellations or suspensions may be implemented by respective Local Chief Executives.

The suspension was announced in view of the heavy rainfall expected from Severe Tropical Storm Opong.
